Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine

Asheville Acupuncture Treatment in progressAcupuncture and herbal medicine are the cornerstones of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is the use of thin, sterile needles, inserted at specific points on the body in order to treat disease. It has been practiced with great success for thousands of years and can be used to stop pain, boost energy, improve digestion, enhance sleep, balance emotions, strengthen the internal organs, and much more. It works with your chi, or life force, to balance emotions and improve the overall functioning of your body. Herbal Medicine is has been used by people on all continents since prehistoric times and still is a major component in all traditional healing systems. A recent survey by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that herbal medicine is the most commonly used natural therapy. click here for more information

Therapeutic Massage

Asheville Massage Treatment RoomMassage is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues in order to enhance health and well being. Medical research has shown that massage can reduce acute and chronic pain, hasten healing from trauma or injury, improve posture and flexibility, relax muscles, and enhance sports performance. It can increase relaxation and decrease stress, anxiety, and depression. It can even have a positive affect on certain medical conditions like high blood pressure and insomnia, and increase immune function. It has been proposed that massage works by blocking pain perception, activating the release of endorphins and serotonin, preventing formation of scar tissue, and increasing the flow of lymph and blood. click here for more information

Chiropractic

Asheville Massage Treatment RoomChiropractic is the diagnosis and correction of something called a Vertebral(bone in your spine) Subluxation. Subluxation comes from latin words meaning “slight”(sub) and “dislocate”(luxate). Vertebral subluxation means a slight dislocation or misalignment of bones in the spine. The bones in your spine protect your spinal cord and nerves, when they are misaligned they can cause an interference in communication between the brain and body causing disease and discomfort to that area. click here for more information

Diet and Lifestyle Counseling

NutritionHolistic Health Coaching is a new and profound way to approach health. When assessing diet, Health Coaches go above and beyond the science of nutrition and look how each area of a client’s life is affecting their food choices. Individuality is a key component to health coaching. What works for one person, most likely will not work for the next. And while dietary restrictions may be a part of the action plan, Health Coaches focus on crowding out the unwanted foods-not complete denial. This model sets our clients up for lasting success instead of strict diets followed by relapse. Ultimate wellness is the end result.click here for more information

Osteopathic Manual Medicine

OsteopathyOsteopathic Manual Medicine directly manipulates the structures of the musculo-skeletal (MSK) system: muscles, bones, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. Techniques used include myofascial release, muscle energy, craniosacral, and select muscle strengthening and stretching. Imbalances in the complex MSK system can create a host of physical problems and complaints, which literally can extend from head to toe. Most of us are familiar with and have experienced the results of these imbalances, commonly occurring in the form of headaches, back pain, neck pain, and chronic pain or stiffness of the muscles or joints. Many of these problems can arise from old injuries which were never diagnosed or properly treated. click here for more information

Biofeedback, Guided Imagery, and Reiki

OsteopathyBiofeedback uses instruments to monitor muscle tension, skin temperature, heart rate variability, and/or other functions. This feedback combined with relaxation and breathing techniques enables you to learn how to reduce pain and maintain equilibrium even during moments of focused activity or stress. Guided Imagery begins with deep relaxation and involves accessing the message behind a symptom. The wisdom of an “inner guide” may also be consulted. The intention of Guided Imagery is to gain insight, reduce stress, anxiety, and pain. Reiki is a form of Japanese energy healing that improves the flow of the lifeforce in a person, whether it is blocked on a physical, emotional, or spiritual level. Reiki is deeply relaxing and, encourages healing, and restores well being.click here for more information
