Acupuncture Treats Many Different Types of Conditions
Pain of All Types
Acupuncture can reduce swelling and inflammation, release tight muscles, calm the nervous system, promote circulation, increase range of motion, and reduce pain. It can even decrease or eliminate the need for prescription pain medications and help you avoid surgery. I commonly treat tension headaches, migraines, strains, sprains, plantar fasciitits, tendinitis, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, sciatica, arthritis, and pain of the lower back, neck, shoulders, knees, hips, and ankles. Acupuncture can also help with numbness, tinging, and nerve pain.
Internal Organ Issues
One of the unique abilities of acupuncture is that it can boost the functioning of organs and systems that are running low and help your organs to better coordinate their functions with each other so that overall things run more smoothly. It can also help your body clear out excesses of inflammation, toxins, fluids, and congestion that may be hindering the functioning of your internal organ. Acupuncture can help address a multitude of issues of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, reproductive, and urinary systems.
Acupuncture offers an excellent alternative treatment for emotional imbalances. It works by addressing your symptoms as well as the underlying cause of your condition so that you can stay more balanced even when the course of treatment is over. If you are taking prescription medications, it can still help to improve your symptoms; if you are working with your doctor to wean yourself off of medications, it can help ease your transition. Some of the emotional imbalances I commonly treat include anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome, Bi-polar Disorder, and shock. Acupuncture can even help improve your emotional resistance, making you more resilient to stress and other negative influences.
This part of my practice is especially for women. If you are struggling with conditions like irregular cycles, PMS, low libido, hormone imbalances, or menopausal symptoms, acupuncture can help balance them out. I also offer treatments for everything from infertility and morning sickness to delayed labor.
Exhaustion and Fatigue
Sometimes our hectic lives leave us little time to rest and rejuvenate and we become run down or chronically fatigued. Other times we find it hard to sleep for extended periods of time and we slowly become depleted. Acupuncture can restore your energy to normal levels, replenish your energy reserves, and give you a guaranteed space and time to relax and receive healing so that you can recharge.
Acupuncture can strengthen your immunity, reducing the frequency and severity of allergies and infections. Or, if you are already experiencing symptoms, it can help clear out pathogens and boost your immunity so that you can recover more quickly. For example, I commonly treat seasonal allergies, colds, coughs, sinus infections, and sore throats.
Complex and Chronic Conditions
Acupuncture can help with these types of conditions because it focuses not just on symptomatic relief, but on correcting the underlying pattern of imbalance that is giving rise to your symptoms. It also offers a different way of thinking about the how the body works, why conditions develop, what symptoms mean, and how to treat them, so it can often be effective when other treatments have failed. I work with a wide variety of conditions of the digestive, immune, hepatic (liver and gall bladder), reproductive, circulatory, urinary, hormonal, and integumentary (skin) systems, as well as emotional imbalances.
Sub-clinical and Vague Symptoms
Because it is based on the premise of prevention, acupuncture is excellent for identifying and correcting conditions that are in their earliest stages. These are conditions that present with symptoms that are below the threshold of clinical detection with no clear findings with standard medical testing, with mild or vague symptoms that point to the very beginnings of imbalance and disease. Acupuncture is designed to identify, define, and correct these imbalances, eliminating them in their initial stages, before they have time to advance and take root.
